How do I love thee, Treo? Let me count the ways...OK, so I’m obsessed with my Treo, there’s no doubt.  One of the things about this amazing little piece of technology is that every now and then you find an application that makes you say “Why, oh why, didn’t they include this with the phone?”  SpeedDial is one of those applications.

Essentially it offers two simple and powerful features:

1) Dial a 1- or 2- digit number, hit send, and it calls a predefined person.  I know, most phones already have that feature, but can you play Super Mario 3 on your phone?  Didn’t think so.  I can’t tell you how happy it makes me, though, to be able to hit 1-enter and call my voicemail.

2) Dial the last 4 digits of anyone’s number in your contacts database and it automagically knows who you’re trying to call.  This is super nice for those numbers that you have etched in your brain forever (my folks, the resteraunt, etc.).  I just dial 0771, it dials up my parents, and I’m good to go.

As you can see, it’s the simplicity of this app that makes it so great.  It costs like 13 bucks, which is pretty fair, considering how often you’re going to use this thing.  Like I said, it seems like something that would be built in out-of-the-box, but since it’s not I have no problem supporting the efforts of the guys at Lionscribe.

Maybe this functionality is built into the new 700p…  One day, oh 700p, you will be mine…
