Seasons

So I wrote my first children’s book. I’ll scan the pages when it comes back (Katie turned it in for a class). I experimented with pastels for the first time ever and pretty much wished I’d gone with good ole-fashioned crayons. Those puppies are tough to keep under control, and the smudging got a little out of hand… Anyway, here’s the “story”

In springtime everything feels new [Butterfly]
The grass is green. The sky is blue. [Spring scene]
In summertime we laugh and play. [Kid swinging]
The yellow sun warms up the day. [Summer scene]
In autumn all the leaves turn brown [Brown leaf]
And red and orange hit the ground [Fall scene]
In winter all the trees grow bare [Leafless tree branch]
The white snow falls down from the air [Winter scene]
Every season does its part [Colors with the words “Spring” and “Summer”]
To make each day a work of art. [Colors with the words “Autumn” and “Winter”]

Anyway, it was a serious project, but I was pretty proud of it when it was finished. I seriously might get someone who knows what they’re doing to illustrate it and self-publish it here locally.

I really just enjoyed a creative outlet OTHER THAN music, and hopefully will do some more of that stuff. Anna has yet to read it, and she’ll be the true test of whether it’s any good or not. She’s a bigger bookworm than her mom and I combined, I think!
